Among the services available to those in need of additional support, the European Investment Fund (EIF) has the central task of supporting micro and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Europe by allowing them access to financing. The EIF designs and develops venture capital and growth capital, guarantees and microfinance instruments that specifically target this market segment. In this regard, the EIF supports the EU`s objectives in promoting innovation, research and development, entrepreneurship, growth and employment. At the end of 2013, the EIF`s net commitments to private equity funds amounted to more than EUR 7.9 billion. By investing in more than 435 funds, the EIF is a leading player in the European company due to the scale and scale of its investments, particularly in the high-tech and early stages segments. At the end of 2013, the EIF`s guaranteed loan portfolio amounted to more than EUR 5.6 billion in more than 300 transactions and positioned it as an important European guarantor for SMEs and guarantor of microfinance. By the above agreement with the IFI, the EIF confirms its ten years of support activities for Italian venture capital and private equity funds, which has so far resulted in the allocation of EUR 669 million to 32 venture capital and private equity funds focused on Italian SMEs. Since 2011, the EIF has been working with the IFI to help Italian SMEs in their expansion and internationalization processes. As part of the existing cooperation agreement with the Fondo Italiano d`Investimento, the EIF has so far made co-investments in ten Italian online private equity funds, to which the EIF has committed a total of EUR 295 million. We will endeavour to reach a mutual agreement to ensure that British nationals who are not based in Italy can continue to acquire real estate in Italy.
